WA - Bradley Lake Park

From: Deziree Iams (DZpurple@msn.com) | Date: 2003-01-20 21:58:27 UTC-08:00
We've planted a new box at Bradley Lake Park in Puyallup, Washington:

Letterbox: "Catch Me!"
City: Puyallup
County: Pierce
Washington
Placed by: Sun Seeker & DZDezi

Location:  This box is placed at Bradley Lake Park in Puyallup.  Just a stone's throw from the Puyallup/South Hill retail madness on 31st Ave. SE, this 59-acre park site includes a 12-acre lake. There are picnic areas, trails, and a place for kids to fish -even a small lake.

"Catch Me!" clues: (DZDezi insisted that the clues rhyme this time)

Bradley Lake Trail goes around the lake,
Counter-clockwise is the way to take.
The bridge is too far, the gravel path not enough,
We hope that these clues are not too tough.
Find a burnt cedar without branches on one side,
You'll see a trail to the treasure we did hide.
It's a  low trail, so be sure to duck,
You'll find some tree remnants with some luck.
Left to a multi-trunk cedar in a few paces,
Around behind is the best of places.
A nook or a cranny, whatever you may call it,
Its Tupperware sized, just the right fit!

Got out to Puyallup today, Bradley Lake to be sure.
I felt the need, and went to seek a cure.

Letterboxing it's said, will pick up your head
if a rain and a gloom you've been in.

We walked and we looked, we saw and we took
a copy of the stamp in the nook.

I was also there today
A chance to get out and play

A new letterbox to find
Was what I had in mind

Found the park
Started on a lark

Found some trails
The start of my ails

The bridge I did not find
So was on course in my mind

Several possibilities I did try
Not yet time to give up and cry

Was walking along reviewing the clues
All of a sudden got the blues

I was going clockwise
The clues, counterclockwise

The caretaker came motoring by
"We're closed, bye bye!"

Continued on to the bridge and the tree
Saw the trail, pretty as could be

Not wanting to be locked in for the night
Decided to leave, come back, get it right

I laughed so hard when I read of your plight,
I had to get DZDezi back up-after good night!
We laughed and we chuckled as we pictured your dances,
But when it comes to boxing, there's always second chances!

Fudrick,

you need to go back to an analog watch?

Digital's don't work for this application.

Of course there is always the

Trial n Error

method.

At noon's hour this day, we went to the park at Bradley Lake,
Found a little plastic box with a log and a stamp, for heaven's sake.

Much to our surprise as we walked the lake all around,
We found an old lady who had fallen to the ground.

Her nose appeared broken and several loose teeth, too,
She suffered such a fate, we almost didn't know what to do.

Yet another 911 call and the paramedics soon came,
To take the lady to shelter and restore her to previous health, just
the same.

This being the third letterboxing trek involving paramedics or
police,
We're seeking, desiring future outings with peace.

Yet another day's adventures in which we surely did partake,
We're soon thinking of changing our letterboxing namesake... ;)

P.S.

Spoke to the park's caretaker & learned quite a bit,
Seems there are plans for park improvement just waiting to hit.
They'll relocate the parking, build an amphiteater to boot,
They're adding new hiking trails, that will soon follow suit.
Thought about adding another letterbox to the area for fun,
But figured too much work is yet waiting to be done.
Perhaps another location, to hide these little guys,
Keep posted to this board, for those clues, with your curious
eyes. ;)

Trial (or is Mr. Error more appropriate :-)

I do not wear a watch, so that would not be of much help.  I know that when the sun sets, it is time to head back to the trailhead.  Being in Fort Steilacoom Park well after dark, one with the caretaker waiting by the gate to close it and once as he was in the parking lot to escort dvn2r ckr and her gang and I out.  It is tough to explain why you spent a night in your car in a locked parking lot.

Maybe if I started earlier...
